My Technology filled life

My Experience With Technology I’ve had an interesting in all things Tech from a very young age. I remember being 5 years old mad that I couldn’t connect to internet when using the home computer, even though I’ve never used it. I just knew at the end of commercials it said to visit this website. Even though I was constantly told we don’t have internet service, I tried to type in the address in AOL (lol) and other crazy attempts to connect. Clicking around learning the menu, settings, it didn’t really have many games; windows 95 didn’t come with much other than minesweeper and paint. Not being interested much in paint learning about the PC because just something I did. Growing older maybe 8, I wanted to know what the hell makes this grey dusty box function, So I stood in my room shining a flashlight into the side looking into the airholes, trying to see what’s inside. While I didn’t continue to figure out we’re immediately I was interested, it was hard, no internet!

Sensitive Information

Sensitive Information      Given my interest in Image Stenography, the interest in transmitting sensitive information comes as well. Journalists around the world  get killed over knowing / finding out sensitive information. The Idea is crazy. I found a website related to tracking these deaths https://cpj.org/ In my other classes + my final project was on Image Stenography.  Im releasing the app open sourced, maybe more people would find the topic interesting. I was recently given contribute status on a steg Lib on github. https://github.com/aagarwal1012/Image-Steganography-Library-Android I from my research of the creator. I believe hes part of a android dev team in India. Which India has been pretty bold in trying to control and sensor its residents . Even shutting off the internet :O https://www.internetshutdowns.in/ Contributing to this app, while I dought could "save" anyone, Could help people communicate sensitive information

Connecting People

Propaganda and Social Media

Image
Propaganda and Social Media    Propaganda is something that has been on my mind a lot lately especially with all the election talk going on. Its really been grinding my gears seeing memes plastered all over the internet that dip into political views with very little facts. These memes gets shared and spread without the people actually thinking about what they are sharing. I can give you many prime examples   Things like this above get shared amongst the uneducated voter effecting their views with little or no information.  For a better example: Since these views are negative the ideas spreads fast like the term "fake news" we're all tired of hearing. I think this video was a good semi related video. Id like to talk / find more information the the effect of sharing these memes on politics. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cSKGa_7XJkg

The Right to Repair

Image
The Right to Repair    In the past when you would buy a washing machine or really any appliance it would come with a manual that would clearly show you how to repair the device. Today on the other hand is quite the opposite, there will be some basic troubleshooting instructions however if something goes wrong your expected to just purchase a new one. Any attempt in a repair will result in be quoted way over the cost of what the product is worth leading to people continue our mass consumption culture. I prime defender in the right to repair would be Louis Rossman, I personal enjoy his you tube channel where he repairs mac books. Louis featured in a recent video from CBC where they exposed Apples poor repair practices, I suggest checking it out. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o2_SZ4tfLns&t=     Repairing Items are becoming a thing of the past even though they can be reused.  Recently my washing machine broke down and the repair guy barely knew what he was

Self Driving Cars

Self Driving Cars: The Good         Self driving cars promise an exciting future for us, that personally I'm excited for because I hate to drive, especially in Toronto. The idea of being able to just call your car to pick up and take you home sounds noting less of perfect. No more worries about if your journey home will be safe, no more worry about drunk drivers, all thanks to driving AI.    If we we're able to just call out car to pick us up, wouldn't we change the way our cities out built? Parking is really not needed to the scale we have today, parking takes up large portions of land that could be used for much better things. With parking not needed we could expect costs of items especially at the grocery store where large parking lots are currently needed.   --More on parking( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Akm7ik-H_7U )    Since autonomy will allow people to call cars to come get them, car sharing programs will become more popular. The cost of these m

Super Robots

Jobs and Robots      While it may seem that robots are going to take all our jobs in the near feature, there are limitations slowing this from happening. One prime example given this a video Ill link below is that mechanical development is developing much more slowly then the power of computers. Building physical robots to do human tasks is possible but come at the cost of speed as the mechanics are the limiting factor in performance. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sAgHorbxqsU   Jobs that involve research and data analysis are going to be improved by the development of AI. The Idea that AI can be used to research large data-sets faster then human scientists are very exciting, Maybe we will reach a point were we can actually create the tech that only exist in the sci-fi movies. tldr: Don't worry IRobot wont happen
